“ Food was good but not as authentic as I was hoping. Plate size is also great. I love spicy food and they had nothing that was spicy. I had to get a "chile toreado" for my kick which was amazing. The drinks are great! I can definitely taste the alcohol in them. The service was great and food came out fast. Thank you ”
“ What a great place. A hidden gem. Three of us had dinner, on a Friday night, and got right in. We had Chile Relleno, Mole Chicken and Carnitas. All fabulous! Service was excellent and the food was excellent. Can't wait to come back! ”
“ Excellent chicken chile verde, perfect rice, solid refried beans and tortilla chips, great green salsa, very good chile relleno. Counter service was very nice. Will come back to update review once we've sampled more dishes. Really though, when the rice is perfect, it makes all the difference. ”
“ First visit and would definitely return. I ordered the carnitas low carb dinner and my friend ordered the Zapata burrito. I ordered the one pound and have enough food for 2 days! My friend's burrito was HUGE! The owner and waitress was so friendly and gave me the suggestion to order the carnitas. If you haven't tried it, get over there! You will not be disappointed! ”
“ Vallejo's Restaurant is a great restaurant for tasty Mexican food in downtown Sacramento. I've dined at this location many times for lunch and most recently for dinner in their outdoor patio. One of my favorite orders is the Chile Relleno. It is SO tasty, breaded and fried, and covered with sauce and cheese. For me, it's a must order. Their steak quesadilla is also huge and very filling! For all of their menu items (burritos, enchiladas, quesadillas, tacos, etc.), you can choose whichever meat you like. I like their lunch and dinner plates because it comes with beans, rice, and salad and tortillas. Each time I've dined at Vallejo's, service has always been quick and no nonsense. Majority of the time, I have not had to wait for a table as they have plenty of seating indoors and out. They serve complimentary chips and salsa when dining in and refill drinks timely. Overall, Vallejo's is a great choice for Mexican food in the downtown area. Whether dining in or taking-out, whether ordering a large plate or just an appetizer, whether dining for lunch or dinner, the good food and service are pretty consistent. Their portions are always big and filling. During our last visit on a Friday evening, there was a DJ playing all the best songs, making the atmosphere fun and energetic. Their menu prices have been increasing over the years, but they do have coupons/discounts (Z Best for example). Staff is wearing masks and operations seem pretty safe. ”
